Just realised I never got back to you. :) So I did try both. Notion is really cool, but it’s overkill for me. I don’t do a lot of collaborative notes/writing, and for the simple needs I have GDocs are good enough. Also, no Linux client means no love from me. Milanote is also a cool platform, but I have another problem yet: They’re both online/cloud based. I prefer offline stuff, where i don’t have to register/log in just to write something down, **and** I get to keep my own files, so I did in fact stick with TagSpaces (last on the list). nothing beats the flat-file approach with multiple formats. It does not bind me to the app or an ecosystem either, I can edit/view any file in any application, connect up any storage location (even cloud based), it’s so permissive compared to any other. Unrestricted access to your own data is hard to beat (that was the original reason why I started to look for alternatives too), and TS does that best, so far.
(About to write a deeper review about the version 3 beta, which adds quite a bit of UX polish to the mix, that’s why I’m replying after so much time now.) :)
Anyway, I will keep notion.so in mind, that looks like a cool tool for collab. writing, so if I happen to start a company with 500+ employees, I’ll be sure to deploy that. ;)
